I read this thing a while back, I think it was posted on here... about how the nicest thing to hear is "I don't need you" because it means you don't have to be with me, you Choose to be with me.. it was longer than that, bu t that's the gist. All I remember was at the bottom "Never" was the author. Anyone have a copy or link to this? Thanks.

Re: Help! Looking for "I don't need you" literature.
Tue, May 6, 2008 - 4:56 AMI haven't seen the post you're referring to, but I've had this conversation with a couple of my partners where I've talked about how it's preferable to be wanted rather than needed.
If someone tells me they need me,
then I tend to feel a great amount of responsibility for their well-being -
which feels a lot like emotional blackmail.
If someone tells me they want me,
then I tend to feel a great amount of affection for them -
which feels a lot like love.

Re: Help! Looking for "I don't need you" literature.
Wed, May 21, 2008 - 6:20 AMA friend of mine posted this recently as a blog:
I want you
I want your warmth next to me as we sleep
I want your tender touch
I don’t need you
I want your wise words when I am searching
I want your playfulness to compliment my joy
I want your nurturing when I am tender
I don’t need you
I want your questions when I am contemplative
I want your companionship when I am lonely, and when I am not
I want the inspiration you give me when I am stagnant
I don’t need you
I am strong
I can take care of myself
I can get what I need, by myself
I don’t need you
I want you
I want the beauty you bring to me
I want your love
